Every town has a first chapter, and Dwight is no exception. The Internet Archive puts it this way: "Dwight. This post office was originally named Lone Star.
When the site of the office was changed in 1883, the population of
the town was mostly from Dwight, Illinois, so it was decided to name
the new office Dwight, Nebraska. Henry Glover the postmaster,
had the change effected. In 1887 the railroad was built and the
town took the name of Dwight after the post office."
