Its present name is an American version of najda, a Czech word for hope. The first settlers, J. William Schoellmann and his family, arrived on February 15, 1881, and many who followed were Germans and Czechs from the Frelsburg area. That's from the Handbook of Texas.
Nada is a community in Colorado County. The Census Bureau counted 231 people here in 2020.
