Did You Know?
Greensboro was laid out to be the home of the University of Georgia. One hundred acres were set aside for the school, and lots were sold for shops and homes. Before building began, Athens was picked instead. Franklin College opened there and later became the University of Georgia. That’s from the 1940 WPA guide to Georgia.
