Did You Know?
The Alcan Land Port of Entry here opened in 1972. It's the only year-round, 24-hour crossing for cars and commercial trucks between Canada's Yukon Territory and interior Alaska. Before 2014 it handled about 1,000 trucks a year, and lately it's been more than 6,000. In July 2026 the government hired Davis Constructors & Engineers of Anchorage to replace the port, now over 50 years old, in a project estimated at 300 to 367 million dollars, with construction starting in January 2027. That's from the U.S. General Services Administration.
