Did You Know?
Piedmont Heights grew up on open country in the early 1900s as a streetcar suburb. It holds the Liddell house, a two-story home from about 1860 and the second oldest in Atlanta. Efforts led by the Morningside civic association stopped Interstate 485, which would have cut close to or through the neighborhood.
