Did You Know?
The village was named for Silas Beason, an attorney for the new Havana, Lincoln and Eastern railroad and one of its promoters. He and five others laid it out on July 29, 1872, along the newly completed line. Berryman H. Pendleton built the first store, a grocery. He was also the earliest postmaster. That’s from the 1911 History of Logan County.
