(later renamed Walcott Twp.) was founded in 1880 by Frank E. Walcott, owner of the townsite, who in partnership with H. M. Kellogg erected and operated a general merchandise store in which the post office was established Jan. 6, 1881 with Frank E. Walcott, postmaster."
