Evadale has a story worth telling. Evadale began as Richardson's Bluff, the home of Benjamin Richardson, who settled there in the de Zavala colony in 1830. In the Runaway Scrape of 1836, the ferry he operated with his sons helped civilians fleeing in fear of Santa Anna. The place was later called Ford's Bluff, for a family with a millsite there in 1852. When Kirby built a sawmill there in 1904, it was renamed for Miss Eva Dale, a teacher at the Southeast Texas Male and Female College in Jasper. That's from the Texas Historical Commission.

Evadale is a community in Jasper County. The Census Bureau counted 1,246 people here in 2020.
