Did You Know?
Thomas J. Perkerson settled here with his family in the mid-1830s. His house came through General Sherman’s burning of Atlanta. The family would not go, since Matilda Perkerson Gilbert was too ill to move. The home stood for more than a hundred years before it was torn down to make way for a grocery store.
