Did You Know?
The town was first called Centerville, since it sat about halfway between Monroe, Social Circle, Covington and Loganville. Around 1904 it wanted its own post office, but another Georgia town already had that name. Settler H. D. Ambercrombie had just imported a costly Jersey bull from the Isle of Jersey. After a long winter of debate, the town became Jersey.
