Georgia created Dade County on December 25, 1837. Its county seat was first called Salem. So many places in the state, including old churches and camp grounds, already used that name that it was changed to Trenton. The town was incorporated on February 18, 1854. That’s from the 1913 Georgia Landmarks and Legends.
