Every town has a first chapter, and Fredonia is no exception. The New Hope Rosenwald School at Fredonia was built around 1915 as a one-teacher school for African American children. It cost 1,200 dollars: the Julius Rosenwald Fund gave 400, the African American community raised 400, and the local white community gave 400. J. A. and Sue Simmons gave the land, and the school took its name from nearby New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Children studied there until 1964, when they moved to the Five Points School. That's from the National Register of Historic Places.

Fredonia is a community in Chambers County. The Census Bureau counted 198 people here in 2020.
