Every town has a first chapter, and Reeltown is no exception. Duane Webster, who went to school at Reeltown as a boy, became Reeltown High School's football coach in 1956 and built the Rebels into a small school power. In 1987 his team went 15 and 0 and won the 2A state championship 9 to 7 over Winston County, and the Reeltown football field bears his name. That year his defense gave up only 43 points all season. He was elected to the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame in 1994, and former Reeltown star Jackie O'Neal, his top assistant, took over the program in 1988. That's from the Alabama Football Coaches Association.
