Did You Know?
In May 1913 four Klondike veterans, Nels Nelson, Billy James, Matilda Wales and Fred Best, struck gold here after an Alaska Native man known as Shushanna Joe guided them to the site. Their find began the last great gold rush in Alaska, and thousands of stampeders made the hard trip in. Chisana soon became known as the largest log cabin town in the world. That's from the National Park Service.
