Lehi was first known as Camp Utah or Utahville. Settlers wanted to call it Jonesville, for their Mormon leader Daniel W. Jones. The post office would not accept that name. In 1884, Brigham Young Jr. renamed the town Lehi, after a prophet in the Book of Mormon. That’s from the U.S. Geological Survey place names records.
