Harvey has a story worth telling. Harvey takes its name from Charles T. Harvey, the engineer whose canal at Sault Ste. Marie opened in 1855. In 1859 he built a new kind of kiln near the mouth of the Chocolay River, and the site became Harvey, a town he hoped would one day rival Marquette. He later drew up a plan for an experimental elevated train in New York City, and the first part of that line opened in 1868. That's from the Marquette Mining Journal.
Harvey is a community in Marquette County. The Census Bureau counted 3,244 people here in 2020. Harvey sits about 5 miles south of Marquette, 6 miles southeast of Trowbridge Park and 11 miles east of Palmer. The map prints the town name in its title panel, with the coordinates below it.
