If you grew up in Marshfield, or you still drive down Commercial Street and West Jackson Street, this map is for you. It's a new aerial view of Marshfield in Webster County, Missouri, made from modern data and given a vintage look. The hills are shaded in soft green. The town's buildings show up as small red shapes, packed close downtown and spread out toward the edges. A wide highway cuts a long line through the hills on the left side.
Marshfield, Named for Daniel Webster's Home
On this map you'll find Commercial Street, West Jackson Street, East Washington Street, North Marshall Street, South Marshall Street, Marshfield City Hall, East Hubble Drive, Spur Drive, Banning Street, Julian Street, Golf Course Road, South Elm Street, Pleasant Prairie Road, Webster Lane, and more. Each red shape is a building, so zoom in on the preview and look for yours.
Marshfield's name came from far away. The State Historical Society of Missouri says the town was named for the home of Daniel Webster, in Marshfield, Massachusetts. That note comes from a file of Missouri place names the Society gathered between 1928 and 1945. So when you write a Marshfield address, you're using a name that started in Massachusetts. You'll spot the name Webster on the sheet, too, on Webster Lane.
The Rainey Funeral Home Building on East Washington Street
One Marshfield building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's the Rainey Funeral Home Building at 242 East Washington Street. It was added to the Register in 2014. Find East Washington Street on the preview. The building stands among the red shapes that line it.
