Did You Know?
West Caldwell began as part of the Horseneck Tract, which Newark settlers bought from the Lenape in the early 1700s. The Lenape named it Horseneck because its shape looked like a horse’s head and neck. The borough formed in 1904. Its name came from the old township, which honored Presbyterian minister James Caldwell.
