Here is a piece of Crane history. Crane Union High School is the oldest public boarding school in Oregon. In 1931 it became a boarding school, with one of only two tax-supported dormitories in the United States, so that ranchers' children from all over Harney County could go to high school. After a fire that started in the gym destroyed most of the buildings in 1967, the school was up and running again two years later. That's from the Eugene Weekly.
Crane is a community in Harney County. The Census Bureau counted 116 people here in 2020.
