Here is a piece of Daniel history. On a high bluff above the Upper Green River valley at Daniel, Father Pierre DeSmet celebrated the first Catholic Mass in what is now Wyoming on Sunday, July 5, 1840. An estimated 2,000 Indians, trappers and traders gathered at an altar of native stone decorated with wildflowers. When the service ended, the French-Canadians in the crowd named the spot the Prairie of the Mass. That's from the National Register of Historic Places.
