Here is a piece of Peppertown history. Peppertown, in the center of a large German settlement in Salt Creek Township, was laid out in August 1859. It took its name from August Pepper, a calico printer by trade, who settled on the site in 1851 and ran a country store with the village's founder. The Lutheran congregation there was too poor to pay thirty-five dollars for a church lot, so it bought one for twelve dollars and built a log church, borrowing fifty dollars to finish it. A brick church replaced it in 1875. That's from the History of Franklin County.

Peppertown is a community in Franklin County.
