Rosebud has a story worth telling. The name Rosebud, for the reservation and its old hotel, was taken from the wild roses that bloom on the hillsides around the agency site. In 1879, a year after the agency was established, the federal government built the Rosebud Hotel to house visiting officials from Washington and unmarried agency employees. That's from the National Register of Historic Places.
