If you grew up on Island Avenue, in Pittock or in the rows of Presston, this map was made with you in mind. It's a new aerial view of Stowe Township in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, built from modern data and given a vintage look. Green hills rise on the left side of the sheet. A wide blue river curves down the right. Between them, big red factory roofs fill the flat land by the water, and small red homes climb the hollows behind them.
Stowe's streets, from Island Avenue to West Park
On this map you'll find Island Avenue, Broadway Avenue, Stowe Avenue, Ohio Street, Center Street, Graham Street, George Street, Ridge Avenue, Hillcrest Avenue, Fleming Park Road, the Mc Kees Rocks Bridge, Pittock, West Park, and more. Each red shape is a building, so zoom in on the preview and look for yours.
How Presston started as Schoenville
Presston is the best-known story in Stowe. The Pressed Steel Car Company built the houses in 1899, and the place was first called Schoenville. Workers rented them from the company. A state historical marker says the rent cost so much that it kept workers in constant debt.
The 1909 strike on Graham Street
In the summer of 1909, unskilled immigrant workers went on strike against the company. It started on July 14. During the strike, families were put out of their homes in Presston. On August 22, the anger turned into a riot. It's remembered as Bloody Sunday, and at least 11 people died. A second marker stands where Graham Street and George Street meet, near the footbridge where eleven men were killed.
The company closed in 1949, and the houses were sold. Many of them still look much as they did in 1909. The Presston marker stands in Presston Park, at Ohio Street and Center Street. On the map, find those two printed streets and you're standing in the old company town.
A piece of Presston and Pittock for your wall

Created by KNOWOL in 2026. The print shows green, shaded hills, a soft blue river and every building as a small red shape, with street names in fine print. The title panel reads "AERIAL VIEW OF STOWE, PENNSYLVANIA" with the line "40°29' NORTH 80°04' WEST" below it.
It fits a living room, a front hall or an office wall. It's a good gift for someone whose family worked at Pressed Steel Car, or for a friend who grew up near Presston Park and moved away. Open the preview and find your own street. See sizes and frames for the Stowe map.
