Hartland is a town in Somerset County.
KNOWOL made this map in 2026 from public survey records, with modern geography and the look of a vintage atlas. United States Geological Survey elevation data gives the terrain its shading. Census Bureau files supply the roads and municipal boundary, with buildings and water features brought together in the aerial view.
A town and its library
Settlement in the area dates to around 1800. The community incorporated in 1820 under the name Warrentown or Warrenton, according to its town history. Hartland had 1,705 residents at the 2020 census.
A library collection began in the town hall in 1903. The collection was housed on Commercial Street from 1935 to 1990. The library moved in 1991, and a tannery donation supported additional space for a community room and children’s materials in 1995.
The library’s history is a record of changing locations and community support. It connects books and shared space with a specific town road, without making the old library building its present home. The source describes the library as governed by trustees.
