Kingsbury is a plantation in Piscataquis County.
KNOWOL made this map in 2026 using public survey records, United States Geological Survey elevation data and Census Bureau files. We arranged Kingsbury’s streets, buildings, ponds and waterways, and terrain, the plantation boundary and the pattern of buildings with the relief, lettering and layout of an atlas.
From town to plantation
Judge Sanford Kingsbury bought the area in 1833 and built two mills on Kingsbury Pond in 1835. The town of Kingsbury incorporated in 1836 and took his name.
The town disbanded in 1886, then reorganized as a plantation in 1887. The legislature validated that reorganization in 1895. By the 1880s, the community had a store, hotel, church and two schoolhouses.
Foss Pond lies in the plantation’s northern part. Parts of Whetstone Pond and Kingsbury Pond also fall within its boundaries, and Foss Mountain rises within the plantation.
