Linneus is a town in Aroostook County.
KNOWOL made this map in 2026 from public survey records, United States Geological Survey elevation data and Census Bureau files. Its atlas layout brings together Linneus’s roads, buildings, ponds and waterways, and terrain, the town boundary and the pattern of buildings.
A botanical name and a college connection
Linneus is named for Carl Linnaeus. Linneus was incorporated in 1836.
In 1833, Massachusetts sold half the township to raise money for a botany professorship at Harvard College. The land sale connected this Aroostook town with the college’s study of plants.
