Did You Know?
In 1896 S.F.B. Biddle, a cattleman who owned the Cross Ranch near present-day Biddle, brought four registered Highland bulls and 26 cows over from Scotland. It is the earliest known shipment of Highland cattle from Scotland on record. The cattle came by rail to Moorcroft, Wyoming, and were then driven north along the Little Powder River to the ranch. Western cattlemen were looking for hardier cattle after the terrible winter of 1886-87, which was known as the Big Die-Up. That's from the American Highland Cattle Association.
