Here is a piece of Mayhill history. The Civilian Conservation Corps set up a camp at the Mayhill Ranger Station in 1933, and its crews built the wood, stone and stucco buildings that still stand there. Mayhill teenagers watched old westerns at the camp, the only movies they could see, and the CCC baseball team often played the local Mayhill teams. During the Second World War the old camp held prisoners of war, who worked on local vegetable farms. That's from the National Register of Historic Places.

Mayhill is a community in Otero County. The Census Bureau counted 96 people here in 2020.
