Did You Know?

Until 1888, Sherrill was only a few houses along the highway, known as Turkey Street. The name came from the flocks of turkeys driven along the turnpike in the 1800s. A post office opened in 1888. The place became a city in 1916, the smallest in New York. That’s from the 1940 WPA guide to New York.
