Did You Know?
In 1972 a troop of Japanese monkeys from Arashiyama in Japan was released into a fenced enclosure on ranchland known locally as La Moca, the cattle ranch of Edward and Clementina Dryden near Laredo. There the troop was renamed the Arashiyama West group. La Moca had once been one of the frontier stops on the stagecoach route northwest from Laredo.
