Croom has a story worth telling. The village of Croom took its name from Croom, the 500-acre Claggett plantation, and grew up around Page's Chapel, the brick chapel Daniel Page built on his own land. Its first service is generally said to have been held on Christmas Day, December 25, 1745. The chapel is known today as St. Thomas' Church. Thomas John Claggett, who inherited Croom in 1756, became the first Episcopal bishop consecrated on American soil. That's from the Maryland Historical Trust.
Croom is a community in Prince George's County. The Census Bureau counted 2,720 people here in 2020.
