Did You Know?
Seventh-Day Baptists founded this settlement, first known as Cohansey. In 1771 they were moving their old church 2 miles. They reached Six Corners at sundown on a Friday, when their Sabbath began. Work stopped and worship started. The pastor preached that the Ark of the Lord rested at Shiloh, and everyone agreed to take that name. That’s from the 1939 WPA guide to New Jersey.
