Cloud Lake was laid out in 1935 and incorporated in 1948. Twin brothers Karl and Kenyon Riddle did much of the work of building it. In the 1920s, Karl had served as city manager of West Palm Beach. The town’s name comes from Seminole Chief Yaholoochee, whose name meant The Cloud.
