Jackson, Kirkland and Hudson
Settlement in Hudson began around 1800. The community organized as a plantation called Jackson in 1824, then incorporated as the town of Kirkland in 1825. The name changed to Hudson in 1854.
The town’s population was 1,416 at the 2020 census. Its Census Bureau profile gives a total area of 40.03 square miles of land and water. The municipality remains a distinct town, with its present boundary shown in this aerial view.
