How Huntsdale got its name in 1892
Huntsdale has a clear birthday. The town was laid out on August 1, 1892. It took its name from William Bunch Hunt, who owned land nearby. That's how the State Historical Society of Missouri records it in its old place names file. The Hunt name is still easy to find on the map today. Look for Hunt Street among the few short streets in the middle of town.
The hills and fields around Huntsdale
Huntsdale is a small place. The 2020 census counted 29 people here. But the land around it gives the print a lot to look at. Deep green ridges fold down toward town from the north. Below them, the valley opens up into long, even fields. A creek bed cuts across the lower half on its way toward the river.
