Cherry Hill Mall has a story worth telling. The Cherry Hill Mall opened in 1961 as the Cherry Hill Shopping Center, the first enclosed, climate-controlled mall east of the Mississippi River. It had aviaries with tropical birds, Boy Scouts camped out inside for nights, and in 1962 Cherry Hill High School held its prom there.
