Did You Know?
Sea Bright is one of the older shore resorts. It began as a fishing village called Nauvoc. Later it became a busy riverside landing for excursion steamers from New York. In 1936 workers dredged the river channel and filled the shallows, which doubled the borough’s land area. That’s from the 1939 WPA guide to New Jersey.
