Moscow is a town in Somerset County.

KNOWOL made this map in 2026 from public survey records, United States Geological Survey elevation data and Census Bureau files. Its atlas layout brings together Moscow’s roads, buildings, ponds and waterways, and terrain, the town boundary and the pattern of buildings.

Wyman Dam and Wyman Lake

Wyman Dam was built in 1930 on the Kennebec River, joining the southwest corner of Moscow to Pleasant Ridge Plantation. It’s named for Walter S. Wyman, president of Central Maine Power, the company that built it. Partly earthen and partly concrete, the dam stands 155 feet high and runs 3,054 feet along its crest. Wyman Lake, the reservoir behind it, covers more than 5 square miles and stretches north from the dam, forming the border between Moscow and Pleasant Ridge Plantation.

A radar station in the woods

In the late 1980s, Moscow Air Force Station went up about five miles northeast of the town center: a radar installation of steel antenna towers in three long rows on 1,494 acres. It was decommissioned in 2002, and by October 2011 the antenna arrays had been taken down and removed. Moscow was incorporated in 1816, and the 2020 census counted 475 residents.
