If you grew up in Magnetic Springs, or your family still calls it home, this map puts the whole village in one frame. It's a new aerial view of Magnetic Springs in Union County, Ohio, drawn from modern data and given a vintage look. North Main Street and South Main Street run through the middle of town. A winding blue stream curls around the north side of the village. About 180 small red shapes mark the homes and buildings, with open green land all around.

In 1879, J.E. Newhouse found a spring in his park, Green Bend Gardens. A state historical marker tells what made it special. A knife blade dipped in the water could pick up small bits of metal, like a magnet. People said the water could heal. It was sold as a cure for rheumatism, gout, trouble sleeping and more. Newhouse opened the Magnetic Bath House, and it became famous for its water cures. The water was also bottled and sold under the Magnetic Springs label. The marker stands on South Main Street, just south of town.
When Magnetic Springs was called Magnet City
The History of Union County, printed in 1883, calls the town Magnet City. It says the Union County Medical Association held its first meeting there on July 1, 1881. The same book says the village got very busy each summer. Sick people came to stay for a while and be treated with water from its many springs. After World War II, better medicine made mineral baths less popular, the marker says. You can still find Magnetic Street on the map today.
